This is a concept many people do not understand. I'll explain.

Let's take Villnar's Staff for exemple.

Starts with:

Energy +10
Cold Dmg: 11-22 (req. 9 Curses)
[...]

Every line appended with a condition in parentheses is called conditional, meaning you will not get the bonus unless you meet the requirement, the condition. Therefore, you will gain +10 Energy no matter how many points you have in Curses (unconditional), but won't achieve max damage, unless you have 9 points in Curses.

Now, let's go back to our Grim Cesta:

Energy +6 (req. 5 Blood Magic)
Health -50
Energy +3 (while Enchanted)
Energy +3 (while Hexed)
Energy +3 (while Health is below 40%)

This item has a lot of conditional statements. You will only get +6 Energy from it if you have 5 Blood Magic, +3 Energy if you are enchanted, another +3 Energy if you are hexed, and another +3 energy if you are below 40% of your maximum health (Here, I'm pretty sure maximum health = Base health, without Death Penalty. Therefore, if you died and had 8/13 hp, you'd get the bonus).
As you can see, the Health -50 is unconditional, meaning no matter what, as long as it's equipped, you will lose 50 Health.

Hope that helped

The secondary of the Necromancer partner should be a mesmer, for the skill Sypathetic Visage. Sympathetic grants the ability to for the monk to keep on tanking, while each time a monster attacks they will lose 3 energy, rendering the Smite Crawlers helpless with little to no energy to cast smite hex, which removes Spiteful Spirit (the main damage output, if not all).

Of course, being part mesmer also grants several energy maintaining skills and the ever-so helpful Arcane Echo, enabling the Necromancer to double up on either Sympathetic Visage or Spiteful Spirit.

A fairly nice build for the Necromancer is located near the end of Undead Preacher's original post, in this thread : http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=93644

Any more Necromancer questions are most likely to be already answered in that thread and I'm pretty sure unanswered ones would be happily accepted ^_^.

You probably have a smiting scalp. Your scalp needs to be in your highest attribute, in this case either healing/prot/divine.

Hey sup guys.

Quick survey (I don't know which part I should focus on most): Should I focus more on UW farming or running? (I plan to update it very soon)

Scarabs took over prophet's path, and they use vampiric touch that does about 72 dmg. Is there any way you can still train there? If not can you tell me a good place to train?

I would think the trolls right outside of droks would be a great place. It's one that's farmed a lot for xp, and it will teach you how to deal with 15+ enemies at once.

You will see Maelstrom (An ice spike) falling on you, so just move some (leave its area of effect), and don't try to cast anything when you're in its range. If the colds switch targets and start attacking the necro, just breeze him. Besides that, try to keep SB on when you can.

You can't breeze while you're in a maelstrom, whether you're using bonettis or not. Sorry, no sale.
